| The V1 Firmware of the P3 System Controller was only capable of patching a single DMX channel / control at a time. The V2 Firmware allows you to patch multiple controls at once, which correspond to fixture personalities on your favorite lighting desk. Please check the walkthrough with screenshots below...
As example, I have made a configuration / showfile which consists of three subscreens, as you can see below.
First, we will group the fixtures / panels of each subscreen into a group. Select all fixtures / panels you want to join in a group, right-click and select "group".
Do this till you have created all groups you need.
Groups can be given a name by selecting them and entering a group name under the "group properties".
Then switch to the remote control view, which is by default empty.
First we will patch a "P3-100 Global Control Set", which allows you to access the global controls of the P3-100 via DMX. Just drag a "P3-100 Global Control Set" from the list on the left to the patchfield on the right.
As we want to have control over three different fixture / panel groups in this show, we will add three "P3-100 Segment Control Sets" as well. Add them to the patchfield by dragging.
Now, each of the Segment Control Sets must be assigned to a "target". In this case, we will assign them each to a different group.
You can also change the start address of the P3-100 in the toolbar at the top of the screen.
On your lighting desk (I used an M-PC for this example, but it can be any lighting desk of your choice) you then patch the corresponding fixtures.
And then you can start controlling the P3-100 via DMX, on a cue-by-cue basis...
- You can create more or less fixture groups, depending on your layout.
- Remote Control Sets can also be assigned to individual fixtures instead of fixture groups.
- The Global Control Set can be patched only once (per P3 System Controller), as it affects the full system and all fixtures.
