Martin MaxModules™

Just in time, Martin Professional is introducing a completely new breed of lighting controllers that will help rental house budgets while ensuring growth and future proofing of their lighting controller investment.
Say hello to the newcomers in the Mx™ family, the MaxModules™!

Concept overview
The MaxModules concept is the world’s first complete lighting controller system based on a series of modules that can be used in hundreds of different combinations. Most lighting controllers are limited to only one format and users must adapt to it despite their lighting control needs. Martin recognizes that a theater show has different lighting control requirements than a rock show, corporate event or large nightclub. Therefore, a radical new approach was needed. But how to offer a flexible solution that fits all these needs without producing a very expensive and large desk. The solution? Modularity!

Modular
Yes, modularity is the key here. With the wide variety of events and venues that a rental house or installer faces today, finding the right control system can be a tedious task. The MaxModules greatly simplify this task by allowing complete flexibility over the lighting control system. What’s more, the modular concept saves you money on your controller investment.

Add additional modules as wings – a cheaper alternative than conventional desks. Swap modules within the frame, or upgrade to a larger frame to build an entirely new MaxModules controller, securing your original investment.
Tough and approachable, MaxModules are designed for rough treatment during transport and shows. Modules are built of a solid aluminum construction to cope with tough environments yet feature tactile, easy-to-operate designs that suit individual users’ needs. MaxModules are built solid yet responsive to the touch.

Each module comes ready to use in a MaxModules frame, as a stand-alone table top or in a 19” rackmount. The module base also includes a 2 DMX universe port so that whenever a module is added to a system two physical DMX connections are also added.

Each module comes equipped with a built-in M-PC™ dongle, making it a very attractive solution for rental houses who want to use the M-PC without the worry of losing the M-PC dongle. With its built-in 2 port DMX, each module is a small Mx console with support for up to 64 DMX universes.
The Cerebrum is the perfect stand-alone controller for fixed installations. Combined with the MxManager™ software, it gives a complete set of tools to automate a complex lighting system.

Software and features
Up to 32 DMX universes can be controlled by the MaxModule Cerebrum™ with two available directly from the module. MxManager software allows for programming and triggering via time and calendar schedules, and MaxModule Cerebrum communicates with Martin ShowDesigner 5 (MSD) software packages. Communication with MSD software packages is via a direct DMX line or through a network connection using EtherDMX and the ArtNet protocol.

MaxModules systems
Whether you start from a simple 24 Submaster module or with the Programmer module, you can build your own MaxModule system starting from a single module connected to a Windows PC or by adding modules to an existing Mx system. With hundreds of possible combinations, you are certain to find the right one for you.

The Cerebrum can accept an external Touch screen.

For two or more Cerebrum together as one console you will have to wait later in the year.

Having 3 Cerebrum together and 3 touch screens would be mad cool. It would be like mission control. I just can't wait till I can put 2 together to get 4 touch screen for programming ease.

Hi Tobi!

Yes all modules can be used with the Maxxyz Pro and Maxxyz Plus
Even a the Cerebrum could be used for backup purpose.

A new software 2.6 will be made available in May.

For pricing, check with your local Martin distributor, they have all pricing.

The first batch of modules are being built this week.

The Version 2.6 is nearly there, Matthias is in Belgium this week, Friday they should be a final beta 2.5 and if all good 2.6 will follow right after.

Some additional features did make it to 2.6...

A lot actually:

Mark Cue (entire cuelist or per cue)
Improved Effects Control (combined parameter control etc)
Effects presets
New Grouping button (below fanning) that combines all fixture selection modifiers for masking, random etc.
Effects and Fanning works now over Masks (e.g. Fan in blocks of 4)
Effects and Fanning works now over Groups (select Group 1 and 2 and the fanning will take the entire Group as the Fan point)
Fixture selection scroll belt to scan the rig (in combination with highlight)
Fixture selection based on Presets used (all RED fixtures) and Level (all fixtures above 50%)
New preset interface with many fixes and improvements
New Patch Wizard (with drag and drop patching) and improved commandline for patch
New Cuelist Options window with many changes and new features
Autostart Option for any cuelist and Startup Fader level
Customizable buttons and faders for every playback
New Unblock feature
Support for all Maxxyz Modules
RDM support over DMX
Universal USBDMX is now configured in real time from the software
New TapSync option
Some Commandline tuning
Popups can now be confirmed with Enter and erased with Clear
Assigning Fade time to all parameters of a fixtures is now Fade 5 (no more @ necessary)
Edit / Update only needs a single Update press now to confirm

All of the above is working in the software and not just planned development. There will be no further add-ons to Version 2.6 and we are already on the way to develop 2.8

I hope everybody will like the progress we are making !

Networking is most likely for 3.0, the whole thing is much bigger then just netwoking two Cerebrum modules together.
