Trying to talk someone through a programming scenarios.

here it is. he needed to capture the whole console for a look in the middle of a cuelist. it rerecorded it at cue 9 and it didnt replace what he wanted. Now he wants his new cue 9 to be the cue 6 in the list, what do i need to do, i am drawing a blank.

To capture the output. Have no fixtures selected and hit LOAD LOAD. Then record that to a cue with "cue only" enabled in the record options. That should then be a whole output cue. I think this is what you want... We may need more clarification if you need something different.

Thanks.

OK im on an audio gig today wrong hat on... so now that he has the cue recorded. its cue 9 in his list and he needs it to be cue 6, does he need to re record over cue 6 or can he move cue 9 to cue 6 and delete. My thinking cap is not on and im not at the console to move things around. Thanks Joe

Is he dead set on replacing cue 6?

I'd do MOVE CUE 9 @ 6.1 to move cue 9 to 6.1 just Incase he decides he wants Cue 6 after all'! ;-)

Thanks.

you could go into edit mode on the submaster and select the cue number in the cue list then type in the new number hit enter and away you go!!

It depends if he used tracking or not. If tracking is off, then he can simply renumber the cue to move it to another location in the cuelist. Otherwise, it's going to be a bit hokey, because if he just renumbers the cue, then it will end up tracking all the changes in that cue to every other cue, and new values will have to be placed in those cues. It's a bit painful to change a tracking cuelist to a non tracking cuelist, but it might have to be done. Unfortunately, it sounds like this might be a new programmer, and he probably just left the defaults, which is tracking on.

As a general rule I don't use tracking for things like drama or anything similar where there is a possibility of a rearrangement of the cues. Just can make things very messy.
