I am brand new to Martin Lighting Consoles, just inherited 2 Maxxyz Plus consoles. I have been a Hog programmer for years now. My question is this. I have a RGBW fixture patched and in my show (channel 1). When I select CH1 and hit full, nothing happens. I have to give each color an intensity. Same thing happens when I type fixture 1 @ 0. In hog world, even when the fixture doesn't have an intensity channel Hog treats it like it does. So when I push CH1 @ Full, it makes all my intensities of that light Full, and the opposite when I type CH1 and 0. Is there a way to do something like this on Maxxyz?

Thanks,

Chad

Hi Chad,

Welcome on board the of M-Series consoles

No quite exactly the HOG way, but:

1: Select fixture 1, then '@ [Color LCD], 0, Enter' will force all color attributes, including running FX to 0
2. Simply create 2 color presets. One will force all RGBW attributes to 100%, the other to 0%
3. You can assign the above presets to an F key (press & hold EDIT, followed by an F key, then select the desired preset from the presets list). Press 'Apply' to confirm.

No you can select all, or some of your LEDs, followed by lets say F1 to set them at Full, or F2 to black them out...

Ofer, what do you do if you want to roll the overall intensity of the LEDs, so my whole rig is at 100%, and I want to dial all lights down by 20%?

Mpranzini, can I hear more about the Virtual Dimmer?

Thanks,

Chad

Hi Chad,

Set the console Grand Master to 80%, then hit 'Load Load'

This will capture the console outputs at 80%

Virtual Dimmer is very high on the 'To Do' list. It is designed to add a virtual Intensity (Dimmer) attribute, to a such fixtures with no built-in Intensity channel (such as simple, RGB, RGBW etc.. LEDs)

This feature will enable you to add an Intensity channel to any fixture, without affecting the fixture DMX protocol, so no need to add an additional DMX address, in order to add an Intensity channel

Thanks for your help on this. I have 2 more questions that I have found. 1) on the Maxxyz is there is there a way to power down beside the power switch on back? 2) Is there a fine adjustment option. On the HOG if I hold the pig button and dial any encoder the response is lesser helping make small adjustments in P&T or file selection and such.

Thanks,

Chad

yes the console is ok to just power off as you described. at least on the M1/M2GO they have been designed that way.

if you are in pan/tilt at the bottom you have a little bar that says options. click it, there is a small button that says resolution. click it can you can change the resolution in which you are changing the attributes. 16bit for P/T fine...

please correct me if there is a much easier way to do this...

Hi guys,

For the PT resolution, simply double click the button above the Pan or Tilt tracking belts, then set the desired resolution in the PT Direct Access window, which also allows to flip a fixture, lock Pan or tilt, and more:

Or using the 'Fixture Parameters\Option' as explained by Big_Daws
