We have a few Elation Colorstrip fixtures at one of our campuses. (I didn't buy them. Lol). I read up on the flickering problems we are having and found out they are not capable of standard dmx speed. Some lighting software lets you slow down the dmx bit speed. Can I do this with MAXXYZ PC?

I'm trying to avoid buying the "DMX Slowdowner from Doug Fleenor or Engineering Solutions.

Go into Menu, System, DMX Settings, Timings. I've never actually tried to change the DMX timing settings, but that's where they are.

when you are trying to do is slow down the overall frame rate, this may also affect greatly the performance of other fixtures. this i do not think is possible directly on the software. u could be wrong. but Paul or Matthias will be able to answer this best.

After reading more about the "DMX Slowdowner". It seems like the standard dmx refresh rate is 44hz. The colorstrip cannot handle it. It sounds like slowing down the dmx to 30hz it will work great and no reports that I could fine of that affecting other fixtures. Looks like MAXXYZ PC can slow it down internally. Am I looking at this right?

What speeds are the dmx timings in M-PC? Are they in microseconds? Hz? Basically what is the mark before break measured in?

to be honest in my experience this settings is on the hardware and not on the software. and for this info you will need to speak with Paul or Matthias via controller support. i do not this that this is something that you are going to be able to do.

i have tried looking online for your fixtures, but i cannot find. what is the exact model you are using? are you using the correct profile for these fixtures? are you using a DMX Spillter/OPTO? have you tried replacing cables? are you using DMX or mic cable?

so its the CHAUVET colorstrip, not ELATION...first problem, now solved. :P

secondly have you tried using an opto isolator, i find it really hard to believe that chauvet could make such a product personally (in someways doesn't surprise me either) but i do not think that this is possible to do in the software. this is most certainly hardware. i have had in the past before i got my MPC Dongle, and ENTTEC OPEN DMX/USB box. they give you software that you can load profiles and make hardware adjustments to, for example change the refresh rate of the DMX output.

with the MPC Dongle i do believe you do not have this kind of flexibility. have you tried to use the software yet? or just doing research?
