Hi guys

We have recently bought ESP Vision as our visualiser of choice, main reason really becuase we use Vectorworks for all our CAD .

I had MSD Gold for a month and it worked well with Martin M-PC software on the same computer. I dont always have a console to connect .

Now that we have bought ESP Vision i cant get it to work with M-PC software on the same computer, like i could do with MSD :/

I have a Martin M1 and M2GO at my disposal, the M-PC software is on my laptop, i downlaoded it from the website. Think it is a demo, nevertheless, it worked fine with MSD no limitations mind you i did have the MSD USB dongle inserted, not sure if this made any diference to the M PC. So anyway, M PC should be able to work with ESP Vison am i correct ?

The question is, how can i use the Martin M-PC sofware as my control interface and use the ESP Vison visualiser on the same computer ?

ESP Vision has the option to connect to MA on PC no problem, but cant see anything with regards to M PC .

Please help, i cant find any answers on the web !

Hello Ryan,

MSD and M-PC use an internal communication.

For ESP, you will have to use the Artnet connection and the use the Microsoft Loopback port to virtual Artnet connections between the two software.

Don't forget to give a 2.x.x.x. IP to that loopback port

Copy the link to your browser as a click here won't work

P.S. MSD Gold imports VW files and does it better than anyone else, this is from users who used the competition software.

Hello Ryan,

Sorry to hear you chose ESP over MSD...

Unless ESP provide an M-PC driver (like they do for MA), Paul has suggested the only possible method

Thanks Paul.

I will try this. Thank you.

I know MSD Gold import Vectorworks files very well. I have done so succesfully. Did struggle with getting LED screens to work. Nevertheless worked well.

ESP is Vectorworks chosen visualisation software, it was hard to make a decision between the two but at the end of the day we deciced to go with what Nemetscheck support.

Everyone has their own opinions. I asked many leading LD's before making the decision, the answers were all mixed . From my findings, there is NO "we are the best visualisation software" all comes down to what you want to get out and personal taste i guess .

Fair enough Ryan, I just wanted to make sure you knew about MSD and VW.

Yes Ofer, we went ESP... only time will tell if it was the right choice or not

Just FYI, im all Martin on the control side of things, we have Martin M1 consoles and M2GO 's here at our branch.

I enjoy working with them very much, M1 is my console fo choice, keen to get a run on the M6

I'm really impressed with the support from Martin, especially yourself . Its so great to have indivuals out there who are happy to help 24/7 so thank you very much :)

Hi Pual and Ofer

Lol, so I'm now at the stage where I am ready to try this out.

I've got ESP Vision and the latest M-PC software installed in Windows 7

Both programs on the same machine.

Fyi - running Windows 7 bootcamp on MAC

NOW... I am going to setup the microsoft loopback to hopefully get M-PC to talk to ESP Vision.

My huge worry is... Will the M-PC software send out 4 univerese of dmx to to esp ? ( I have a 4 universe license of ESP)

I worried M-PC has some restrctions and won't allow me to control fixtures in ESP!?

Trying to get away from having to carry around a console everytime I want to pre program :/

Pray to the gods its going to work!

What you guys say?

Hello Ryan,

As far as I know, you will need a license or Martin HW, in order to allow more then a single universe from M-PC

Hello Ryan,

Ofer is right, if you don't have a M-PC license the ESP software will only see one universe from M-PC.

I posted a workaround in a separate topic. Please test and let us know if that worked.
