Glad it works for you!

Of course this is not something we can support.

Before anyone put too much effort and money into such upgrade, we think it is important that we state we can't guarantee support (communication legacy) with all old USB modules such as the one used on the legacy Maxxyz. As of Version 3.0 All Maxxyz and Maxxyz Plus are no longer supported therefore changes in the code will not be tested against these hardware platforms.

As an example, we are currently rewriting the whole under layer of the USB communication between modules and software to improve its efficiency and it is possible some legacy code will have to be drop. Some of the early code was written in a different era...

Don't see any form of conspiracy to block users from doing such upgrade, it is actually nice to see such project.
But we rather warn you ahead.

Hi Paul.
When you has paid 55.000,00 for 2 maxxyz console and 2 extrawing, and Martin say me "NO SUPPORT FOR MAXXYZ AND MAXXYZ+ CONSOLES"....... I will not tell you what I think. Perhaps, yoy may feel bad.
When I say Thank you to Martin Professional, I want to say Thank you for NO help me, FOR NOTHING!!!!
You had to have helped all maxxyz user. Any hardware upgrade.
The result is that all invent how to fix this.
So, you can find any maxxyz console with any invention made...
I am user maxxyz console from 2004!!!
I have shown to many lightin engineers how to handle the console.
I have many tours with Maxxyz console.
This isn't the result that I hope from Martin...
Really, Do you want that I buy 1 M6, for example, and... in a few years you will not give support to me????
I continue to be M Series user but you should think Why are there many lighting engineers that they are using chamsys, titan mobile....
Perhaps there's something that you're not doing very well.....

acustica, as a side note the reason people are using chamysys, titan etc is that the format and key commands are sooo close to HOGS consoles at an affordable price. TBH GRANDMA is what i see moreso over here in Canada. and now that Martin has made an amazing console/s, we are starting to see this show up on many tech riders too!

Hello Serafin Jaime,

Let me try to explain,
The original Maxxyz was designed in 2000-2001 and release in 2002.
So this hardware is 12+ years old now.
Other manufacturer consoles release in these year are also discontinued with no support.
We do everything we can to keep parts, but it can get very difficult, mainly with the type of motherboards used in Maxxyz.

I cannot comment of the decision behind this design, this was way before my time as product manager.

However, in the M1, M2GO and M6 design we have chosen components that are easier to find replacement in the future if need be.

With the release of the M6 we have made a nice gesture toward Maxxyz owners by offering a substantial rebate on the purchase of a M6.
We are giving away 64 universes version for the price of the 8 universe version.

I hope you can take advantage of this upgrade and move to the M6, it is a fantastic console with a lot of power under the hood!

See this document for more information of the upgrade program

Out of curiosity, does this still work with v3.50, or has the hardware been phased out by now?

The Maxxyz hardware was phased out a few years ago already. the version 3.50 cannot be installed on old Maxxyz.

Paul - I'm actually curious as to whether the hardware drivers have been phased out. I'm toying with the idea of pulling the computer out of an old Maxxyz and replacing it with a Brix, or something of the sort, with M-PC installed. Essentially, new software and new computer, but with the case, faders, encoders, and keys from an old Maxxyz. I saw a project where somebody did the same, but the post was from a couple of years back - I had assumed that this thread was dedicated to a similar project...

The old key (HASp) is definitely not supported anymore.

I supposed most if not all of the hardware is still working, but as I said before we cannot guarantee in any ways we will support this in future software version.
There's no conspiracy here, it is a simple as "as long as it work we leave it there, the day we would have to change the code to adapt for these older hardware is the day we will stop supporting it.

Oh, I don't think there's any sort of conspiracy. If hardware is deprecated and is no longer capable of running modern software, it would be a waste for any company to restrict their software development by trying to support people who hack together old hardware and a new computer. I'm honestly just considering picking up an old Maxxyz and replacing the "brains" for the fun of it - but it wouldn't be terribly fun if it was a total waste of time and wouldn't even work with the current software revision.

Thanks for the info, Paul!

"Oh, I don't think there's any sort of conspiracy."

It wasn't pointed at you or any specific person, just a comment from what we hear sometime. As we have fun making things obsoletes ;-)
