I just thought I would post this in case it is useful for others. The other night I set up separate sound activation for Kick and Snare and had really nice results. One effect I had was color change on snare hits and intensity change on kick but just about anything is possible if you set up the REAPER effects right and set up the right cuelists in M-PC. Hopefully this will give some of you a good starting point for cool effects.

I recommend using different cuelists for MIDI trigger than you do for manual triggering. I had issues with the fader being stuck at 100% after being triggered by MIDI. Separate cuelists solved the issue for me.

Sorry for the lack of screenshots, I will explain further if necessary.

Software I Used:
M-PC
LoopBe1 ( http://nerds.de/en/loopbe1.html )
REAPER ( http://www.reaper.fm/ )

Hardware I Used:
Zoom H4n

Of course any software/hardware that does the same thing should work.

Hardware Setup:
Run audio cables from the direct outs on your mixer or split the lines on the snake into your audio interface.

REAPER Setup:
1. Enable MIDI Output to LoopBe1.
2. Set the audio input to the audio interface you are using.
3. Mute the master output unless you want to hear the beautiful sound of feedback.

For Each REAPER Input:
1. Add a new audio track
2. Set the input to the desired input on your audio interface
3. Go into I/O for the track and set MIDI Output to LoopBe
4. Enable Monitor Input
5. Arm the Track
6. Go into FX and add a ReaGat
7. Set the gate parameters to open on each hit. Remember that it doesn't need to sound good, just open for each hit and close before the next hit.
8. At the bottom of the gate settings check the box next to Send MIDI. Set each track to a unique note number.

In M-PC For Each Desired Cuelist Trigger:
1. Record a blank cue in a new cuelist.
2. Add the MACRO MIDIMACRO <CuelistYouWantToTrigger> GO. Set it to trigger on NOTE ON on the note that you set up in REAPER.
3. Record another blank cue on the same cuelist.
4. Add the MACRO MIDIMACRO <CuelistYouWantToTrigger> DELETE-MIDIMAP. (The manual says it isn't implemented but it works for me)
5. Add another MACRO RELEASE <CuelistYouWantToTrigger>.
6. Set End Of Cuelist to "Auto Release".

In M-PC For Your Global Release:
1. Make sure you have the MACRO MIDIMACRO DELETE MIDI before the REL ALL MACRO.

Now the first time you hit GO it sets up your audio trigger and the second time it clears it. Adjust settings in REAPER if it doesn't seem to be triggering correctly.

It was literally my second time running lights live with more than a little Elation DMX Operator. Hopefully once I have a bit more practice I will have time to get a good video of it.

Thank you guys for making it possible for beginners like me to be able to afford to use M-PC with the free version.

I have had a couple minor issues but obviously I am doing things I doubt you guys had in mind and that the manual outright says are not implemented fully. I hope I can contribute more as I get more familiar with things.

Your program has a different goal than what I am doing here but I have played with it.

Next time I am running both sound and lights I plan on trying to use the custom layer on an LS9 to control the faders in M-PC and I will be using your program for that.

By the way, to test with streaming radio audio I installed an app called Voicemeeter Virtual Audio Mixer.
